The Thermwood Furniture Network brings professionally designed custom furniture to the small cabinet shop.

Through this approach, properly equipped shops can customize and build furniture designed by some of the most renowned furniture designers in the industry, can build them efficiently in single quantity, can match or exceed the quality of the best furniture companies in the world and can make a profit rate unheard of from a manufactured product.

This program addresses everything needed. We have developed a complete system of machines, support equipment, software, designs, design files, finishes and training that will make the production of professionally designed furniture practical, even in single quantity.

Industry leading professional furniture designers have joined our program to offer to eCabinet Systems Members exquisite furniture designs. Designers are compensated when design files are downloaded and when CNC programs to build the designs are rented. Over time we expect the number of participating designers and the variety of designs to increase.

2. A method of accessing and customizing these designs.

Furniture designs are available as eCabinet Systems Job files. For a design fee, you can download the design file from our web site or, you can order a CD that includes both the design file and the CNC programs needed to make any complex parts. From this you can modify the design using eCabinet Systems software and generate nested based CNC programs that are cut on a Thermwood CNC. Each design includes a full set of line drawings with assembly instructions including detailed guidance. If you are not already an eCabinet Systems Member, you can join for free.

We have developed a CNC program for every complex part, carving and molding required to build each design. These CNC programs run on a Thermwood CNC router and can be downloaded from our web site for free. You can also purchase a CD that has both the design file and the CNC programs and avoid download time. Once loaded into your control, you can run these programs by paying a rental fee per play (the bulk of this fee goes to the designer). You will need a rotary playback axis option to produce three dimensional parts such as carved legs, feet and posts.

Decorative hardware for furniture is different than that used for cabinets. Often the hardware is exclusive to a particular group or piece, is made to order and is typically only available in large quantity. We have established a distribution program to stock and supply these components to Members.

The designers, working with Valspar, the world’s leading supplier of furniture finishing material, have developed exquisite furniture finishes that will complement each design. These finishing materials are normally only available in large quantity but we have established a blending facility so that they can be supplied in quantities appropriate for this program. We have also created instructional CD’s to demonstrate exactly how to apply these materials.

Building high quality custom furniture requires certain skills not normally available in a smaller cabinet shop. These include, among others, carving with a CNC router, production sanding of intricate carvings and applying multi-step furniture finishes. We offer “hands-on” training programs to bring these skills to our Members.
